The nightlight really helped him to sleep better. The stars were just mesmerizing to him, and I think helped him take his mind off of sore gums. I was also surprised when my older son, who is 4, would come in and stare at the night sky in his brother's room. I eventually got a sea turtle nightlight for my older son, too. Now both of my children are able to fall asleep to a beautiful starry sky every night. This has been an excellent nightlight for our family; much more interesting and cute than the average nightlights.
