I handed it to him and he played with it as I finished shopping. Of course, I had to buy it. He has loved it ever since. He is able to easily hold the ball and rattle it. He has also recently taken to throwing it on the floor because he discovered that it makes a different jingling noise when it hits the ground. Overall, I think this is a great toy!
